Club Semantic-lexic kids

Dear all,

do you ever notice that your DD or DS can read a passage word for word, but when you ask your DD/DS some questions about the passage, he/she could not answer you because he/she does not understand the passage?

I have a DD, ( this year P6 ), she looks perfectly find, adorable, goes to normal school. but when it comes to comprehension, problem sum mathematics, she has difficulties in understanding the question.

I ever brought her for DAS test, but she was diagnosed as not dyslexia.

thanks for sharing.

Hi I have replied you in the dyslexic thread. Does your dd have difficulties understanding her peers as well? There are semantic difficulties and social language difficulties which can both manifest as per your description. Social language will manifest more in reading comprehension, composition and peer relations. Maybe you can bring your discussion over to the dyslexic thread as more parents can share their experience and knowledge there.
