Ummm... looking at the kids these days, I am thinking outspoken is the new norm.

Taking into consideration other people's sensitivity is being hypocritical according to a very 'wise' teen I happen to talk to.

After talking to her, I feel like I belong to the stone age.

:hugs: With your guidance, I am sure Ah boy will do fine.

Hang in there.
Let me share my experience. Just spent 3 weeks together with my bro and his family this Dec-Jan. O, the arguments between my brother and my nephew - as a third party I can understand the concern and worry in my bro's words. And i can see that wall in my nephew's brain as he spoke. Even as tears started to stream down his eyes , he refused to budge from his stance that he was right. What seemed to be risky and dangerous to all of us just did not to him. His point was but everything turned out right. The desperation of my brother vs the defiance of my nephew ! Sigh! no solution, just hope he understands .
Their interaction in ways helped me deal with my DD. I can scream and shout and let it all out - but if she was not willing to listen, then it makes no sense. They are too big and too strong ( in will) for us to push or cajole or convince- not unless they want us to. So have to be patient. And explain. And wait patiently. And pray for minimum damage. And work on maintaining our bonds strong. And then wait patiently some more.

Of course you have icy_mama's warm hugs while waiting :hugs:

PS- wow , painted your place :salute:

Sun, thank you for sharing.

Ya, patience.

I usu. let him hv his ways as long as no physical hurt will be sustained.

I think some pple take calculated risks, some r simply reckless. My boys belong to each category. Our kind reminders r not appreciated by the naturally reckless child who feels I am undermining his common sense.

Just like the other morning, I asked gently whether he needs to go check his workdesk b4 leaving for sch. He replied rudely.

The mornings I kept quiet, he turned back 1/2 way to get sth he forgot to pack.

I not too sure abt this. Trying my best to be patient, to be understanding, to hold my tongue.

Had wanted to go shopping while ah boy goes to granny's place.

Then he told me he wants to come back home after lunch.

There goes my shopping.

When he is allowed to stay there for many hours, he has other plans.

When he is not allowed to, he throws tantrums.

真是冤家。
