Ytd was our 1st time seeing a purple carrot too. According to the shop assistant, purple carrots sell at $8 per kg, can be found at Tekka mkt.

I don't have a slow juicer but MIL gave me a juicer and I hardly used it. Cannot get over how much wastage there is after all the juice is extracted. End up thinking it is better eat them whole.

Even when I make soya or almond milk, I keep the okura and the almond meal and I use them to bake or cook. No wastage there, but fruit pulp, hmm..... maybe if I have a compost bin which I don't, so into the rubbish bin they go.

That is my own barrier to juicing. But when I do get that glass of juice, nice and chilled..... yummy.

Schweppes, was your juicer motor hot after ytd' concoction? Mine was.

I juiced a quarter rock melon for the boys. Kinda wasteful as the rock melon ain't juicy. Elder boy has braces tightening after pain, ah boy has a loose tooth n a new molar growing out.

For hubby, a stick of purple carrot, an small apple n a medium orange.

Sounds yummy!! First time heard of purple carrot. How interesting.

Yes, the juicer motor does heat up after a while. But it can take me about 20 mins to juice, so not surprising in my case. Sometimes, I just let it "rest" for a minute or 2 in between juicing

u can also make almond milk. just soak the almonds overnight (about 6-8 hrs) and then run the almonds tog with water thru the slow juicer. U can add honey to sweeten. Can buy almonds from any TCM shop.

Here's a useful link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iggGxhqFI-8

I'm quite lazy  so i skip the straining part. Anyway, a bit of pulp/residue is good for fibre intake (that's the lazy me talking). Mine's quite simple, just add honey only.

The youtubber's concoction has more steps. But I'm sure it'll taste much nicer too.

enjoy.
