we went rusutsu resort last year over cny. it was sub zero temperature. powder snow. my dc loved the snow, esp my lil piggy. the cold didn't bother her at all.

other than the down feather jacket, needed thermal underwear too. and make sure to buy gloves that are waterproof.

Our last Dec Europe trip also experienced extreme cold - our first time. I was sick on the 2nd day.

About waterproof gloves, r these ski gloves?

The gloves we bou for the Europe trip not protecting our hands from coldness.

Actually I wanted to go during Autumn. But ah boy wanted to play with snow again. Elder boy also has to sit for his HCL exam on 6th Nov.

ski gloves or mittens are good. my dh got a leather one. it's good too. those woollen ones aren't suitable for snow balls and wind does seep in between too.

go wild on sea urchin., snow crabs and ikura.

temperature was between -8 and -14 degress celcius in jan i think. if u layer enough warm clothes, the cold is bearable.

for the kids, i start with a tshirt, then thermal underwear, then a sweater, preferably turtle neck, a scarf then with the down feather jacket. winter socks, snow boots and gloves complete the outfit everytime we go outdoors. looked huge and bulky but feeling warm is most important. when we were indoors, just remove the jacket.
