Jennifer, regarding the 250 cheng yu for HCL students you mentioned in Funz's home, are they the same across schools?

(if it is, my time to  now 'cos I never see DS memorizing cheng yu)

I don't think DD is even aware of it. Think Janet has previously shared that there is a booklet of 100 idioms which should be memorised. Think DD has forgotten about the book.

I thought it is compulsory for sec sch students?

The sch printed 250 for the year 1 to learn and was tested.

Jennifer, sorry to potong jalan your home thread to ask this question. I hope you dun mind

I found out recently that my dd is given a list of chengyu at the start of Term 1. But the teacher merely told the class to go back and memorise them, and that these chengyu will be tested throughout Year 1. No teaching at all  :stompfeet:

I notice that these chengyu does not appear in their HCL textbook. Do the teacher in your dc's school teaches these chengyu during class time? Is it the norm that the kids are expected to study on their own?

My dd is terribly weak in Chinese. No tuition........yet

Is it 250 each year or 250 for the whole 4 years? :nailbite:
