Depending on your symptoms I guess.

The most common Imodium or lomotil to stop the runs. Charcoal pills to get rid of the gas and Lacteol Fort to balance the good bacteria in the gut after them being flushed out by the diarrhoea.

If there is stomach cramps a muscle relaxant may be given.

what type of medicine will doctor usu. prescribe for food poisoning?
Did you try charcoal pills?
I do not have these at home.
I don't have the names here but doc usually will prescribe something to stop the vomiting and the diarrhea and something to neutralize the toxin.

Charcoal tablet works wonder for my hubby but makes me feel even worse. I take the water from porridge instead. It helps to neutralize the toxin in the system too.

And if you have probiotics, that's good too! Put good bacteria into your stomach.

I find that the best solution for food poisoning/gastric flu is fasting from solid food for 24 hrs. Just sip plain water, rice water or add a little sugar and salt to warm water to stay hydrated. This gives the gut some time to rest and recover. By then, the vomitting and diarrhoea should have stopped. Then for another 24 hrs, take plain porridge with a little salt. It's sounds quite drastic, but very effective. Anything with fat, dairy or acids can irritate the gut and slow the recovery. I usually try to avoid going to see a doctor as the walking and waiting would make me feel worse, and they really can't do much to help.

That's what I am afraid of.

The vomiting and diarrhea has stopped.

I think I will just take the probiotics since I have 2 bottles of these at home now.

Am still not hungry.

:thankyou:

All for the kind advice.
