What is MEP all about?

Postby Faun » Mon Jun 14, 2010 1:16 pm

Hello,

Can someone help me with the following:

1. what do students do in music elective program?
2. do the students start at Sec1
3. what's the background you need to be eligible?
4. do all the IP schools have MEP?
5. Is it better to go to SOTA instead if my child wants to do music seriously?
6. If my child goes to IP school for MEP, does that mean she will do 'A' level MEP and that may allow her to do a music degree if she wants? Will skipping 'O' level MEP makes it very tough for her to cope?

Thanks!

p.s. quite new here so if there's another thread that talks about this would appreciate if you can direct me there.

Check out the link here

http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissi ... programme/

2. do the students start at Sec1

Yes

3. what's the background you need to be eligible?

Grade 3 and in Express stream

4. do all the IP schools have MEP?

Not necessary

5. Is it better to go to SOTA instead if my child wants to do music seriously?

Yes provided she is comfortable with the IB syllabus.

6. If my child goes to IP school for MEP, does that mean she will do 'A' level MEP and that may allow her to do a music degree if she wants? Will skipping 'O' level MEP makes it very tough for her to cope?

She can opt to sit for the MEP 'O' level if she wants.
