Malay Special Program

Post by sporemum » Thu Nov 18, 2010 9:07 am

Anyone with kid's experience going to a designated centre for Malay Special Pgm? Specifically, Changkat CHangi for the east zone. Website says twice a week but what if the child is unable to make due to CCA etc? Can they make up for it other days? R the lessons offered online like for the other third languages?

Is the std of Malay Special Pgm v high? and do most of the kids score well? ie say 70%?

Thanks.

I'm doing MSP but in Bishan though. Attendance fluctuates a lot. And it depends on the teacher. For my teacher, we can get excused if we tell him beforehand that we are unable to make it to class. As for make up classes, it depends on the teacher's flexibility too.

Most of the people in my class have A2 and above for their final score. So the standard is not very high, for sec 1-3 level, and the teacher does do his best to try to help the students push up their scores. I'm not sure abot sec 4, but I heard from my teacher that the standard will be higher.

Hi Thanks! So the lessons are twice a week as stated? It seems difficult to try to cope with two external lessons a week. Esp if the centre is not quite exactly next door.

Oso is the dropout rate high? I understd most of the other third lang eg Jap, French etc, many drop out within the first yr. Oh well, at least my elder one did.

Good luck for the exams next yr then, I guess u must be doing the O lvls

Yeah lessons are twice a week. I'm not sure about dropout rate at MOELC since sec 1 and 2 MSP classes are conducted in school. However, at sec 3 level, there's not many students, so we have to go to MOELC for lessons. Speaks about the dropout rate within my school. And yes, I'm doing O levels next year.

Hi anyone out there who can help tell me what the test/exam paper is like. How to prepare learn MSP . Thanks. Serious about taking it at O level. But just starting now at sec 1. Love it so far though many in my class are going to give it up any time. Pity.

Hi, anybody with a child on Express track, taking MSP for the 2 bonus points? Is it true another advantage is that the MSP grade can be counted as a Humanities subject in L1R5?

A student who offers M(SP) in the GCE O-Level Examination will be allowed to use the M(SP) grade in lieu of a Humanities subject grade for admission to the JC/MI.

Have decided to apply for MSP. Since now is the only chance to do so. Just do it and try out first. Will sort out the logistics later.

DS is not a visual learner, cannot manage HCL even if he qualified. Agreed he picks up alphabet / phonics - based languages much more easily.

Is HCL so difficult to manage? I believe Chen Lao Shi can help.

Secondary school CL is already difficult enough, HCL will be impossible for Zac.
