Have decided to apply for MSP. Since now is the only chance to do so. Just do it and try out first. Will sort out the logistics later.

DS is not a visual learner, cannot manage HCL even if he qualified. Agreed he picks up alphabet / phonics - based languages much more easily.
Actually, I think focusing on CCAs (for the bonus points) would be more fun. And baker road has affiliation, so Zac would get 4 points max with a wholesome CCA.

Is HCL so difficult to manage? I believe Chen Lao Shi can help.
Indeed, chenlaoshi is fantastic. &, mandarin/MT is surely pleasurable for most children; it's the exams which are 🤯 Given the amount of effort required for some students, it'd be a bit like 事倍功半, so it can be more worthwhile to spend the academic energy on other core subjects

His CCA points are hopefully guaranteed as he is always fully gung ho about his CCA. Was thinking of the extra 2 points applicable to any JC - may be quite valuable no matter whether high or low raw score.

Do take note that there is a cap of maximum 4 points that each student can get. His affiliation JC is an excellent school, it is an awesome choice. :)

IMHO, it is wiser to focus his efforts on his core subjects as there will also be an increase in the number of subjects in secondary school. Unless he loves taking the language… or has special reasons to do so.

Recently, a few of my colleagues are posting to China for to supervise the progress of a project. They were selected because they went for HCL during secondary school and can speak, read, write and discuss in Chinese. And therefore taking HCL is for long term career prospects.

Secondary school CL is already difficult enough, HCL will be impossible for Zac.

Likely because of their ability to speak, read, write and discuss. These are valuable skills to have.. whether or not one has taken higher Chinese..

I've always wondered what is "有心人". I thought "有心人" are hardworking people? So hardworking people will get more "难事"? Doesn't compute for me.
