My daughter is in Sec 2 this year, and she had been scoring like 25, 26 and 21 out of 50 for her HMT. I'm really very worried for her as I don't want her to be kick out of HMT. :scared: Is there any way to help her up, to increase her standard to like 35, other than tuition as she does not have tuition. Please, help me!! :?:

Newspaper, 少年文摘, reading, find meaning of difficult words, make sentence of the difficult words, do reflection on 读后感. Start with 读后感 of 400 words follow by slowly increase to 800 words. These are the typical things my child's school did to them starting from sec 1.

Hi,

Anyone knows if you are not offered to study HMT in sec 4,

1) are u allow to take HMT as a private candidate?
2) if yes, will the result appear in one result slip or certificate if they are taking in the same year as other school subjects?

Thanks.

I think if you register as a school candidate, you cannot take the exams as a private candidate.

Hi mandymummy,

Thanks for your quick reply. This was what I told my ds1 yesterday. He suddenly asked me about the 2 bonus points he will miss if he do not have HMT. So far he did very well in his CL.

Regards.

Does he take third language? Or if he has any affiliation, he can still get 2 bonus points. Otherwise, it is indeed a disadvantage.

Is he already in Sec 4? If not, can he request to take HCL now?

Hi twilight, there is no affiliation in his school and he also do not take a third language. He supposed to take malay but he did not take up earlier. His aim is to go to VJC but will be tough as he will need raw score of 6 points. Regards.

He is in sec3 this year. I don't think the school allow him to take HCL even though he got a A1 this year. If he is in sec2, it will be possible. But he only
managed to get a A2 last year. Anyway, I just sent a email to MOE last night. Will update after I got their reply. Thanks.

I hope the school and MOE will allow your son to take HCL, given his strong CL results. Good luck!
