How much allowance do you give your sec school child per day/week?

Its $50 per week.

It's for recess, lunch and stationery. Actually, he spends only about $30 so the rest goes to to his savings.

We used to give S$15/week in sec 1 & 2. This yr increased to S$20/week in sec 3

$35 / week for break, lunch and some stationery. But he probably uses 1/2 that amount only.

About $25 a week. He also spends about half . He will bring extra to buy books if needed. So far he eats at the school canteen which cost only $2 or less sometime if he eat chicken rice. Some students go outside near-by food centre to take their lunch therefore cost more.

I think how much we give also depends on how much we trust our child not to spend unnecessarily. If they can spend sensibly and know how to save, then, I suppose it's alright to give a little more.

Initially, I gave $25 per week but realised that it is not enough. I have since increased it to $30 per week and this is for 2 meals in school only, recess & lunch. My son is not a big eater. But he hardly has any money left at the end of the week. I think its because the food at the canteen is not really that cheap. I remember seeing the signboard of a Japanese food stall selling rice at $2.50 . If you take 2 meals at that price, you will not have money left for drinks.

Entertainment Expense??

My daughter is allowed to only have S$2 for recess & S$2 for lunch. No extra. So she has S$4 a day. Enough for her. Some days she comes back for lunch so she saves and uses that for extra food/drinks or buying other things in school.
