Hi to all parents who have children choosing this programme. Please do feel welcome to provide any feedbacks, comments on your kids coping with IB or 'O' level. From the MOE website, I'm able to see 6 schools offering MEP. Which school is offering better course or are they all similar structures & guidelines from MOE?
I need help on this matter. Thank you.

Hi,

I am very interested to know about MEP too. Do you know if the child must meet the minimum aggregate score of the school before he can be admitted? (Those are all very good schools. RI, RGS etc)... If the child has a ABRSM Grade8 but cannot meet the mimimum aggregate score, can he be admitted?

Thks.

I do know that the child has to meet the min score. If not, then try under DSA. But then, have to see if the school is looking for students under that music domain for DSA too. Some don't. Eg. CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' School has MEP, but it doesn't take in students for DSA under music domain.

Not that I know of any sch that admit a student under music alone as DSA.

Rather MEP is a subject that is offered in those schools that have this and to take it up, one must have at least Grade 3.

There are schools who look at DSA applications under the domain of "Music".

eg.

RI/RGS Music Domain
http://www.raffles.sg/dsasec1.html
"The minimum qualifications for Music Domain applicants are Practical Grade 7 Distinction and Theory Grade 5, or equivalent qualifications. Successful applicants for Music Domain are required to join the Music Elective Programme (MEP) and a musical CCA group offered to them according to their talents."

MGS
http://www.mgs.sch.edu.sg/article/676
DSA (MEP):Musically talented pupils to join Music Elective Programme (MEP)

Er...the rest....you go and look at the individual schools yourself, if interested, lah. Only have 7 schools that officially have MEP.

MEP programmes:

Anglo-Chinese (Independent) Independent
CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ SAP, Autonomous
Dunman High SAP, Autonomous
Methodist Girls’ Independent
Raffles Girls’ School Independent

Direct School Admission.

The student is admitted school before PSLE.

DSA through music is very tough. Top schools (RI,RGS) have limited quota for this track. Only the few top talent young musicians can get into these schools.

My friend's son was accepted by Singapore Youth Symphony Orchestra but rejected by RI last year.
