Hey everyone, i am still new to this so please be easy on me. Anyway I am waiting for my o level result and i am not confidence that i will get a good grade and enter a JC. What i want to ask is that can i appeal for one if i get 21 points and above for L1R5? Can i appeal without my CCA points as i sadly got only 1. What i wish to appeal is my knowledge like maybe i finish learning h2 math and i have some knowledge about quantum mechanics. Can i use these to appeal? Is it possible that they will let me but they have to test my abilities? Someone please tell me and no hate comments please. Your answers will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, I am waiting for my O level results as well, the apprehension is killing me.
If you score a raw score of 21 for your L1R5, after deduction of your additional 1 CCA point, it will be net score of 20. You will still qualify for Innova and Jurong JC. If you wish to appeal to a 'better' JC, which is Pioneer(next in rank) of 16 points, advance knowledge might not be applicable UNLESS they are willing to let you sit for a test. In addition, a difference of 4 points is quite big, and the chance of getting in is quite slim.
Anyway, you never know what will happen on (tentatively) 10th of january. Never lose hope! Good luck :).
Spent quite a bit of a holidays researching on these information, I am a chronic worrier.

Thanks for the reply. If i cannot enter JC, should i go polytechnic? I do not want to go polytechnic as i still do not know what i like and what i want to do for my career. So is there anyway i can know what to do?

Once you exceed 20 points raw you can't even use your CCA points to -2 or -1. I am 100% sure on this, our teachers have stressed this alot of times.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
If you get >20 points for L1R5, I would suggest poly. However, if you have no clue of what course to take, MI would be a good choice. MI is a 3 years A level course.

Hi, I am also waiting for release of my o level results. Do anyone here knows which is the exact date for release results? I am considering these few options: - Hwa Chong institution / National JC/ Anderson jc / Ngee Ann or singapore poly business related course.
Here is my expected o level results:
1. English( B3/A2) ( most likely B3, because it is my worse subject)
2. Emath: A1
3. Amath : (A2/ A1) (one of my best subject in school, amath paper 1 together with ss , burn the midnight oil just to memorise ss, end up during amath paper 1 too fatigue, almost throw away 8-10 marks to question I knew how to solve, just hope that the mark for amath A1 before moderation is around 82/83 so that I could at least achieve A1 in o level amath)( usually achieve around 88-91 for school amath, plus my school amath is much tougher than the o level one.)
4. Chinese( took in sec 3, already secured A1)
5. Pure physics: ( A2-A1) ( just hope my paper 2 wont screw me up)
6. Pure chemistry: (A1, just hope so..)
7. Combine humanities( ss/history) ( A1??? I think before moderation , my marks is around 70-72 but my school teachers said almost every yr, around 66-68 can get A1 already...not sure if it is true..)
8. Higher chinese: ( A1) ( most probably A1 although there are far many china scholars taking same exam in other schools. )
Predicted L1R5: around 7/8 or maybe 6
Actually, I aimed to go for a poly for business related course....anyway, did any single pointers here go to poly instead of jc???do give me some advice for me to compare jc vs poly.....

Hi with a B3 for EL HC and RJ won't take you even if you use HCL as your L1, according to teachers. If you get A2 for EL maybe can appeal, but need good cca. Results out 14 Jan if the 2nd Monday of Jan trend continues from the past few years. IMO not worth to go poly with single point, ESP with such a good score. If you are aiming for super popular courses like medicine/law, only like 1 or 2 students from poly make it into local Us to do these courses. And in poly, I think only 15%? of all poly students qualify for local U I think and out of that 5% accepted.

Also, heard the A1s for the subjects are as follows: ;according to speculation only

EL - 70
Amath - 85
Emath 93
Pure chem - 85
Pure bio - 85
Pure physics - 78
Elective geog + ss - 70
Pure literature - 75

You can look at this site to see the speculations for other subjects and others opinions: http://forums.sgclub.com/singapore/a1_p ... 26852.html

Yeah, that is why I am so scored that I cant get A1( 85 marks). for amath because i am really too tired during the amth exam paper 1.....Actually, my school teacher did say amath need 84/85 to get A1..Emath need around 89-91 to get A1....as for english I really not sure...but my senior did say moe will moderate up a bit...

This year Amath paper like a little bit harder than last year... Heard last year was 88, so this 85.. Emath this year a bit harder, so maybe A1 will be 91,92. Won't be <90 I think.

English usually has the lowest A1 - Cambridge has very different standards from us, teacher showed us examiners report once, they don't put much emphasis on grammar and spelling apparently. Plus this year EL compre harder than usual years (when I did other years I got like 20/25 but this year one got 16/25 about) so EL will moderate down.
