I need advices urgerntly.. My daughter was a prefect and Netballer in Sec 1. However due to so many in school activities for her prefectorial board and netball 3 times a week, she had slackened in her academics tremendously. I have made a decision that she has to quit both of her prefect duties and her netball cca to give way and more room for her academics studies. My questions, is CCA compulsory? Can she proceed thru out without any CCAs? My point is if she continues with her netball and she score +2 points in the CCA but does not on her academics, i dont see the point as the 2 points will not help her in any way. If she focus on her academic better the points are more well deserved.. I know both CCA and academics are important but she cant manage well as she has tuitions and other enrichment classes to attend.
Your advice is much appreciated....

I believe that some minimum of CCA is required. You probably have to check with the school as different schools may have different rules. Can she quite just one of her CCA rather than both? Or switch to one less-demanding one? If you discuss your concerns with the school, they may be able to offer some advice.

Even if she focus on her academic and scores 6 points for L1R5, high chance she will not get into the top JCs as other students who get 6 points will gets 2 or 4 points deducted due to cca and/or higher mother tongue.

If you don't mind her not getting into the top JCs, you can consider asking her to drop her 2 ccas. However life without cca in sec school will be boring ! Instead of dropping both, why not concentrate on one?

Discuss your concern with your child's form teacher & she/he will be in a better position to give you advice. Maybe you can drop her prefect position & stick to netball first. Just the netball will able herb to get the 2 points for CCA.

May affect her cv in future if no CCA as employers may prefer all-rounders.

Though past a certain point in time, job experience overwrites CCA achievements in the resume.
