My dd is not doing well in her Sec 1 English Common Test. In fact she had failed her 1st Class Test. From what I've gathered from the test questions' structure, it's more incline towards the basic understanding of phrases used in a passage and the vocab. How can I make her improve over these weaknesses other than reading? Any good assessment materials to recommend?

:?: TIA

It is very different. My son has brought home several copies of that kind you mentioned...interpret picture shown...recently there was one picture about this little girl with a halo on her head...with this line, 'some kids go to heaven earlier'. Seems like there is no right nor wrong answer.

The kids do take a while to get used to secondary school english. Do give them more time and more practice.

Yes,there is no right or wrong answer but the teacher is marking it strictly which seems that they can't do well now :(

I am out of touch where son's Sec 1 English is concerned...beyond my level of understanding. Though lesser components, it is different and require strong writing skills to express.
