But for myself, I only got comprehension guides because my teacher would print out editing exercises and some model compositions + how to write them for us.

Thank you for sharing that info. Which comprehension guides did you find useful? Please specify the title and publisher. Thanks!

I check out booklists on the Pacific Book Stores web site each year end. They post the book lists of all pri/sec books which use Pacific. There are a few schools that don't. For those you can ask on the specific schools' forums here. Or you can search on the specific schools' web site.

I have saved a few sec booklists to my computer, which I can send to you if you like. PM me your email address.

Yes, until a couple of years ago, several schools were using Discovering Maths. Now they have en masse switched to Shing Lee NSM. I wonder why, because the syllabus hasn't changed.

You can buy some maths and science assessments. For some sec1 students, science is very difficult to catch up with the peers.

if your child's school is using shinglee math, there are many questions inside for practice....but there is an accompanying workbook.

for science, you may want to look at science assessment books by GLM or wisemann. same goes for history and geography. reading intensively is important but a student doesn't know what he/she knows or will be tested.

Janet, can see u are very hands on for Sec School books.

I have no idea what sort of books my kids used in Sec School. All I know is to pay for them if my kids need to buy.
