Why need to study third language? What are the benefits? Will the child miss out something from not taking it? In the university, is the third language a compulsory subject?

Anyone has German textbooks for Sec 1 for 2019 to let go? Please PM me. Thanks!
Go Carousell to buy 2nd hand, is cheaper.

Hi, just curious.
Why do you need past year paper?
My girl is doing S2 and never heard from her about past year paper.

It's all about broadening horizons. I sometimes dream in French although I never practically used it in Singapore for many years

Be careful. I did that and found insects / termites in used books. Swore to never buy second hand books ever again.

I was in one of the pioneer batches when they introduced 3rd languages for secondary schools. At that time, students were selected to third languages depending on how well they do for their 2nd languages. I think it is the same today. I missed it as my Chinese is poor :(. I was pretty sad as I had wanted to learn Japanese so I tried to do it myself. Spent 3 months before giving up!

I think it's great to learn a third language, but the way it's done in MOE isn't really constructive. In my time, at least, it was 3h once a week. It's hard to practice the language if that's the way lessons are structured, and I felt like I was just cramming for exams.
