Re: Any recommendations for Sec 1 Maths Assessment Book

Augs wrote:Hi. Does anyone know of any good Sec 1NA Maths assessment book? I prefer it to go topic by topic, instead of in exam papers format. I went to Lot One popular and could only find 2 types of Maths assessment books for Sec 1 NA, and both are in exam papers format. Any recommendation on which assessment books and which outlet to get?
Casco maybe good as there are really a lot of questions but u have to be selective on the questions because not all of them are insync to the current syllabus. You have to decipher which are the more common ones so as not to waste too much time doing unecessary questions.

Hi obiwanmum,

This is also a good assessment book for normal academic students.

I have previously use this book to coach my normal academic students.

Some question inside are challenging and are inline with what will be coming out for standard examination question.

However, in my own opinion, the Mathematics Tutor by Casco is really a good book to start with.

My son used the Onsponge's Conquer Math during his primary school level. As he is entering secondary 1, I am looking for Sec 1 math references which are nearly similar to Onsponge's teaching. Can you recommand? Thank you!

How to teach Sec 1 Math?

Post by Beikiasu » Fri Dec 20, 2013 9:40 pm

How to teach Sec 1 Math? My gal had never pass her math since P5 SA1 to P6 SA2. She passed her PSLE math.i am worried she will suffer again. She is in NA/Express, she choose to go to good NA. She must do very well in Sec 1 first 6 month in order to promote to express. What is the different between P6 math and Sec 1 math? are there a lot of problem sum to solve again in Sec 1? How do to well in math? i don't want to see my gal suffer again.

Thanks

In secondary it's all problem sums, no mcq. For express at least, not sure about NA.

Need to understand the foundation and practice a lot. Presentation of the steps is very important. Need a good tutor/teacher who can bring the idea across. :)
