Hhmm ... seems there is none I can think of, esp in Sec school. Its soooo much different from pri school.

Involve SYF, intensive practise when SYF is near, these are the choirs, dance, performing arts, band, CO, Strings ....

Uniform group - I heard the quite slack ones are Girls's guides or Scouts. The rest, so many marching and physical trainings.

Sports related, lots of training, can be 3 times a week.

Societies - eg. infocomm and those Chess club, Math club, Science club, definately very busy and brain juice squeeze till almost dry.

Yes, maybe librarians as bud mention. But in Sec school, is there such as CCA as librarians ? Maybe as a 2nd CCA .. I don't know ....

The best is during the CCA orientation, see which one is not the niche, that should be one. :D

mrswongtuition wrote:Now it's the new LEAPS system.

If you only fulfill the participation requirements of your CCA, you will probably be a borderline pass case.

If I recall correctly:
L - Leadership (prefect, committee role in CCA, class chairman, etc)
E - Sorry can't rmb at the moment but I think it's Experience (camps, etc)
A - Achievement (win awards/competition)
P - Participation (CCA participation or events participation)
S - Service (Community Involvement Programme - CIP)
Wow, thanks.

I did not know all about these. Luckily I join this forum. Hope it is not too late to catch up on my ignorance.

Q1:
But may I ask about the L-leadership part. Surely not all students will be selected for prefect, right ? So, for those not selected, how to gain points in L ?

Q2:
Is prefect in Sec schools something you can choose to join like CCA or are you to be selected by Discipline Master/School ?

Thanks

CCA is another competitive area for top O levels students to fight for the exclusive 2 point bonus to get into a Top JC, besides the HMT 2 point bonus and affiliation 2 point bonus. That's why the COP score to get into Top JC is always 2 points and not all of them can get in because the IP students have priority booking place already.

But is it mandatory that points must be obtained from all the L,E,A,P,S category ? If yes, then if the student is not a prefect or monitor how to get points ?

By the way, is Prefect in Sec schools something you can choose to join like CCA or are you to be selected by Discipline Master/School ?

For Leadership, as long as your child has a committee role in CCA, they'll get the points. If it's uniform group, they have a certain number of points for certain ranks obtained.

For prefects it's usually on a nominated by peers or teachers basis. Your child can volunteer but there must be teachers/peers who support. Different schools operate differently on this matter.

*E is not for experience but ENRICHMENT. I apologise for the mistake as I'm not in charge of any CCA this year so 'lost touch'.

Thanks mrswongtuition,

Is there a requirement that you must obtain points from all L,E,A,P,S category ?

Or as long as you accumulate 21 points irrespective of category can liao ?

There isn't a minimum to fulfil at least a certain number of points from each category.

Usually schools will plan many activities, enough for the students to fulfil the requirements and get their A1 for CCA if they sign up and attend. For certain schools (like my previous school), the activities are COMPULSORY and everyone will at least get A2 for CCA if they attended and they just needed to contribute a little more to get A1.
