Allowance for Secondary

Postby lovejoypeacce » Fri Jan 08, 2010 12:55 pm

Hi,

I have a Sec 1 dd this year and I would like to have a gauge of what is the amount of allowance you are giving your kids.

Her transist link card will be top up by us so basically her allowance is for her break and lunch money.

Is $30 for 7 days enough? to take into consideration that on sat evening she might want to eat out with her church friends after service.

Thanks for sharing!

I am giving my girl $80 per month. She is very thrifty type. I would pack her tea break while this money is only for lunch. For a start, I ask her to write down in a note book so that after 1 month, we know how much is lunch expenses.

I'm giving $80 per month, excluding EZLink top-ups. I don't want to give too much ... still monitoring, if not enough, I might increase the amount.

My son is in sec 2, his pocket money is $16 per week excluding EZ link
top up. I gave him $15 when he was in sec 1.

My dd in s2 this year. I am giving $25 a week which covers her recess and lunch. EZ link card top up amount, additional school stationery, etc are separately given.

Alowance for secondary school

At lower sec, my dd gets $100 . Now in upper sec , she gets $120 This includes topups to ezlink for transport . No extra $ for weekend unless there is a special occasion that warrants the additional pocket $ . Seems to work out well because my girl even saves up enough for small Christmas gifts and goodies that she buys for herself and close friends, etc.

Sure or not ? All give so little ?

My dd gets $5 per day if it is a short day. (That is until around 2pm). For long day (CCA) , it is $10.

And she is complaining that it is not enough since her school moves to a new premise this year, and everything has doubled in price (according to her).

better not let my kids read this thread....all these aunties and uncles are so generous...why daddy so kiam one......only $10 per week, even when they go lunch with church mates (not every week though) - no extra $$ from me...they hardly buy anything from school except the necessary stationery ....

they pack snacks from home for recess. occasional lunches in school will come that pocket money ....they save most of the money

they take Daddy Taxi every day
