we will be choosing IT courses in NP and also SP...for the next few days, we will be selecting options carefully based on his score and his interests. it is necessary to set realistic options.

he is keen in multimedia & animation (15) and information technology (15). is it safe to put these as first 2 options based on his score of 18?
Janet, is he interested in infocom security? Can take a look if he is interested. There is a lot of development in this area both locally and internationally.

totally dejected when he collected. now have to decide properly those 12 options.
Wat abt the cut off points for biz in other polys? If other polys has a cut off point history of 18 for biz and distance is nt a major factor for ur DS, he can put it as his first choice.

Personally, one shld go for the course he likes and the one that matches his cut off point then he shld be able to get in. Though the hot fav polys are those in Clementi but I feel it's the liking of the course tats more impt.

First few choices r impt, like in the selection of secondary schs. From my experience, normally they will post the student to those courses where they meet the COP unless there's special exceptions e.g. appeal which can be risky.

By the way, ur DS has done well wor, 18 is quite a decent score. :celebrate:

Thanks everyone.
He passed all his subjects with B3 and C5. He is the IT kind of person, just don't understand why wanted Business. A chip off the old block actually. Trying to select IT courses either in Ngee Ann or SP as courses can end rather late. Ngee Ann is preferable because it's just across the road.

Appealing is very risky. So choosing the courses must be done carefully, just like choosing secondary schools, cannot waste the first choice especially. Hubby is going through all the IT courses with him one by one, explaining what it is all about and if there is any future.

Allocation is merit over ranking as indicated in the booklet.

hb and son discussed courses till quite late. now based on a reasonable course 2-3 points above his score...hopefully he will get in or else he will be disappointed.

You need to score a min of D7 to enter the local unis. MT scores aren't computed in uni admission scores unless they add to your overall UAS. Different JCs have different guidelines for whether you need to retake MT. Some stipulate D7, some C6, others perhaps higher.

As far as subjects or courses are concerned, HMT matters only if your course is MT-related.

I thought entry into Uni is based on 3H2 and 3H1 (inclusive of GP and PW)? Why do you need UCAS? Is it for specific courses only?

Hi all,

my niece's L1R5 score is 7 and after taking away 4 pts, her final score is 3. Do you think if she wants to do science in RJC the chances are ok?

Thank you..
