How much $$$ do you spend on your Pre-schooler?

Okay, lets start the debate going. Since most of us have limited funds, will you rather spent on expensive and branded ones or save the money for books, toys, enrichment.

And KPO abit, how much you spent per month on education. To start the ball rolling:

1. Age of kid: 2.5 yrs
2. Childcare/Preschool/Kindergarten: about $350 (full day)
3 Enrichment programme 1: Shichida. about $270
4 Enrichment programme 2: Seimpi. about $120
5. Books/Toys/Teaching Materials. Avg $30

Total per month: $770

I've yet to send my 2.5 year old daughter to any enrichment courses yet... do I qualify as a KiasuParent?

I'm the lazy kind. Just started her in Kinderland Academy @ Katong. Half day programme first. $650 after subsidy. Claims to have all kinds of enrichment programmes built into the childcare.

I am only a 'half-past-six' kiasu parent myself too.... :P

1. Age of kid: 5.5 yrs
2. Childcare/Preschool/Kindergarten: about $100
3 Enrichment programme 2: Math. about $120
4 Enrichment programme 3: Chinese. about $120
5 Enrichment programme 4: Swimming. about $70

Approx Total a month = $410

1. Age of kid: 1.5 yrs
2. Childcare/Preschool/Kindergarten: $0
3 Enrichment programme 1: NA. $0
Milk powder and diapers already burning a hole in the single income pocket. :P

$$$ Child Care, Pre-schools and kindergartens?

I'm also one of those Kiasu MuMMies. My daughter is just 1yr 2 mth.

1. Kindermusik $265
2. Diapers and Milk formula $200

Am thinking of sending her to Julia Gabriel's and Aquaducks. Will burn two more holes on my pocket! Btw, how does Sichida work? What is the min age requirement to enrol in that programme?

For Shichida, it's 1 lesson per week. You have to sit in with your kid. However, you can forget about enrolling within the next 6 months - they are totally full!

You can try the Eduplay programmes from Julia Gabriel since your child is so young and not yet going to infant or child care. You have to accompany your child - these programmes are meant to teach you how to interact and teach your child.

The same applies with Aquaducks.

Hi hi,

I am a new member here.

Here is my list and I guess I should be consider quite kiasu here.

I have 3 children. 4yrs, 3yrs and 1yr old.

From 2 to 3 mths of age and till now, my children are all attending shichida class once a week

Other enrichment for my 4 yr old.
Mental arithmetic - CMA
Swimming
Phonics class
Art Class
Jelic
I Genius
Berries - chinese
Gym
Piano

And for the 3 yr old, another additional is I genius. As age is a constraint for the rest of the classes and time to ferry. When he was younger at 18mths, He attended the enrichment class 2 times aweek.

At the end of the day, I believe I am very kiasu. However, I do not want to take any chances as children grow up only once and once they pass that so call "window of opportunity". It is passed. I think everybody do hope the best for their own children if time is not an issue.

If I have enough time, I think I could do more.

Mincy,

I am not a SAHM. I would say I have very good home support.
My mum takes care of all my children with the help of helpers.

Many classes like phonics, piano, and art, The teachers comes to my house to teach.

The only travelling is Berries, Shichida, I Genius, Jelic and CMA.

So I am like a driver on Sat and Sun Morning and is pretty draining for me. but then again, those are the perfect time slots and arrangement. unless a better one comes along.

Jelic is under MPM maths whereby the child will go there and play boxes of games (min3box) per lesson and then they use their thinking skills to complete the games. Actually I have all these games myself but then really do not have the time to play as this games really need time to plan.

I genius is also a right brain training school. It used to be called Epoch if you know. Material wise, they are far lesser. For me, it is another training for my children as I really do not have time to carry out any activities with them.

OK... hellokitty now overtakes everyone of us who dare lay claim as the ultimate KiasuParent. Impressive... most impressive! I'm humbled by your dedication to your children. I don't even dare to calculate how much you are paying for all those courses.
