Moving Home with a 2yr old

Postby Highgatehouse » Wed Oct 12, 2011 6:47 pm

hi we've left sg for 9 yrs now and during that time i've become a mum to a 2yr old and the singapore i know is completely different.

I know nothing about schools/ childcare in Sg and need some advice. We are looking for an accompanied playgroup (mother & child) that my son can attend next yr till he is 3. (2013)

i think we will live near River Valley or Holland as thats near family.

what is ideal :

outdoor play area
montessori program ( as close to the real thing as possible)
mandarin only is fine

I don't really care about the ABCs, Maths and homework as I'm a SAHM and think there's still time for him to be a child.

really appreciate feedback as we move home right after xmas and I found out only on Monday!

Hi not too sure if this will help but i think most parent-accompanied classes do not have big outdoor playarea as there's no need for it(unless they are run by a school/kindergarten).most playgroups are academic based...
Not too sure exactly what there is available, but below are some which may be useful.
-Weecare
-Bibinogs
-Julia Gabriel
-D'story club
-Buttercups montesorri
-totsville montesorri(Pretty well known for good montesorri programme)
-Charis montesorri
-Kindermusik

thanks everyone for the info, its a good start. i' must admit its overwhelming the choices we have in singapore. which is a good thing i guess!

I have found this forum extremely interesting; parents are so passionate about education and its inspiring.

I will start contacting all the schools below in Nov and keep everyone updated.

lastly, I"m a full time SAHM, does that mean I don't qualify for any subsidies?
thats another confusing one!
