[Bedok/Katong/Marine Parade/Siglap] Preschools

Postby Twinkle » Tue Jun 03, 2008 12:07 am

Has anyone have any shared experience with respect to the following schools. I am looking for a pre-school in the East for my 3 year old with good and successful literacy program:

1. Learning Vision (now known as Odyssey) at Arthur Road;
2. Growing up Gifted;
3. school house by the bay; and
4. kinderland academy.

Much appreciated!

Twinkle

Hi Twinkle,

1. I sent my boy to LV Arthur Road 1 and a half year ago for the infant care. Its call Kids Central then. Really like the place, teachers are caring and place is big. Heard they have since integrated all their enrichment programmes together in the curriculum.

2. Growing Up Gifted
Counter people are kind of erm snobs and they are fully booked over 6 months. Me and my sis-in-law put our selves on waiting list and never got a call. Guess they are not very interested.

3. I think Chief Kiasu sent his daughter there and he is quite please with it

4. Kinderland Academy... not too sure about that one

Actually, it's the opposite. I sent my daughter to Kinderland Academy, and am now thinking of sending her to Schoolhouse by the bay. Nothing really wrong with Kinderland, just that we are thinking she might learn more in Schoolhouse with its extensive enrichment programmes.

Thanks for your replies.

I visited LV on Arthur Road and it is now known as Odyssey. They have a comprehensive programme but the monthly fees are very steep at $900+. The grounds are also very pleasant.

What I hope to find is a place where my child will be able to get a good foundation before entering P1, ie full literacy with ability to read and write and numeracy, with the ability to have grasp of simple maths. I would rather not spend the weekends shuttling to enrichment classes although I note that this is pretty much a norm.

I suppose I will check out the other places.

Cheif Kaisu, if you have any further info to share, I would appreciate that.

Thanks!

yeah, seems like learning vision is coming up with another brand but $900 for childcare is so unaffordable.

If I am not wrong, though most childcare will fufill the criteria... " full literacy with ability to read and write and numeracy, with the ability to have grasp of simple maths."

Now adays the school system very kiasu...kindergarden already have home work. By nursery 1 you probably need to know at least 1-10. My kid only playgroup 1 already have meet the teacher session....

Dear kiasu parents,

Am checking this on behalf of a friend.

Could anyone recommend a good pre-school in Siglap area for half -day?

Holy Grace and Chiltern house and NAFA Kindergarten are full!

All inputs are appreciated.

I'll be shifting my daughter to Schoolhouse by the Bay in Katong CC middle of this month... they offer a 3hr session in the afternoon for nursery kids.

If it is not too far, you may wish to consider this.

Hi, my kids are now at Gracefield kindergarten (at Koon Seng Road). They have been there since March this year and doing well so far. Only 10 kids maximum per class and affordable fees. Seen alot of improvement from my kids too. Their program prepares them well for P1.
