Hi kuahli,

Did you send your child to Raffles Early Learning Center at Telok Blangah? I guess u stay nearby Telok Blangah... Which school did you choose in the end?

I stay at Telok Blangah and looking for school for my boy now. Think of sending him to Raffles or maybe school at Harbourfront.

Appreciate if you can share your experience. Thanks.

Hi wenwen,
I'm queuing to place my 18-mo into Playgroup.

The admin lady was very nice to brief me on their teaching philosophy despite my abrupt walk-in, but they seem very busy all the time (I called once and was told it was peak hours for them) and for a Montessori school, she was trying to keep the pen/ paper off my restless child's hands.

I didn't manage to look at the premises because classes were on.
Is the interior very cramped and do the kids have outdoor playground time?
Appreciate if you could share a bit more about the core activities your daughters' curriculums are built around?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi mommee,

My daughter is in this school and she is adapting very well.
Apart from montessori, they usually have outdoor activities like playing balls which the playgroup really enjoys pretty much. I have seen it myself without the teachers knowing.

For what I experience is my daughter picks up very fast. At the age of 2, she is able to sing some complete songs by herself both English and Mandarin (Depends on individual as my daughter loves singing).

Ever since I sent her to school, she learns to speak faster than what I would have expect.

Food wise, they actually have a menu pasted on the board visible to others just outside the board. So you will know what ur child have for lunch including tea breaks.

They even keep records of the time they change diapers for them and what time they poo on a whiteboard at the entrance (For Playgroup only).

*I suggest u make an appt with the school and take a tour inside to learn more. Bring your child along to see if she/he likes first coz to them, 1st impression is impt. U might like the school but not them :)

Whitewindy,
Thanks for your reply and sharing!

Unfortunately, my daughter has to come off her IFC so our options are limited. She'll have to go in and learn to like the environment cos everywhere else possible is full....

Fingers crossed things will work out :)
I did notice that "Mandarin" was a specific lesson on the timetable.
I'm not familiar with how effective that is, because my son has always been in a bilingual learning environment - 1 English/ 1 Chinese teacher attached to the class...

Anyone have any comment about the school? Which one is better? Childcare centre or just Kindergarden is better in term of education level?

Been to the school, not much student and all students seem very quiet unlike other school which I have visited, the child is more active.

Hi all. Are there any negative feedback on this centre? I heard of a recent case of suspected abuse... not sure if there is any investigation outcome yet... :(
