SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Education (MOE) will set up its first batch of pilot kindergartens within HDB heartlands.

The five kindergartens will start operations from next year.

Four of them will be based in primary schools at Blangah Rise Primary, Dazhong Prinary, Farrer Park Primary and Punggol View Primary.

The fifth one will be at a void deck at Block 489C Tampines Street 45.

Enrolment for K1 classes next year will be between 8 April and 19 April.

MOE said admission will not be on a first-come-first-serve basis.

It said Singaporeans and children from low-income families will be given priority in the earlier phases of admission.

The five kindergartens will accommodate about 560 children in all.

MOE said school fees will be $150 per month, and low-income families will be eligible for financial assistance.

Pcf is private, not govt-run.

MOE is pretty sly :). All the kindies are placed within the premise of the least popular Primary schools. This would automatically bring up the stature and popularity of these schools in one fell swoop. Good move to whoever made that call.
