How far is your kid's childcare from your home?

Postby Charolyn » Thu Jun 06, 2013 4:43 pm

Some good childcare recommended here are located a bit far from my home, e.g. 2 MRT station+15 mins walk, or 25 mins walk without shelter, etc.

I am wondering how long is the journey for your kids to go to their childcare/kindergarten? I am afraid kids will feel tired if it is a bit far or need transit for transportation...

Thanks!

Personally, I look for a childcare within 5 mins drive from home, preferably also reachable on foot.

I will not travel far for so-called branded childcare centres but I won't mind travelling for branded primary/secondary schools.

5-8mins by car
The child care used to be walking distance, but it shifted. Personally prefer to be walking distance from home.

5min by walking. But the most important is the environment, whether its caring and clean. I saw parents who put their kids in cc near their houses for convenience but the cc teachers r not caring. Pity the kids.

Just proved my point on the distance thing when I sent my kid to the ccc without her school bag yesterday! LOL

Thank God it was just a 5min drive away...

It depends on a few factors:
Do you have a car?
Who will be fetching them from school? If it's someone who is working, will they have to rush?
What if it is raining?
What are the alternatives?

My childrens' childcare is a 5 minute drive as usually my husband will drive them in the morning and my f-i-l, who also drives, will fetch them. There is also a direct bus if my maid needs to fetch them. If we didn't have a car I probably would have compromised on the childcare which is 5 minute's walk away to save me time in the morning.

Thanks mommies, for your replies.
We don't own a car so I have to look for childcare nearby our house. But there are not "reputable" childcare nearby within 5 or 10 mins walk... The only "reputable" one is Mulberry JE. But we hv to walk at least 20 mins to reach there and there is no shelter all the way long... So I gave up...I will just register one which I think relatively good based on my gut feeling...
