Travel: Malaysia - Desaru

School terms keep kids in school and parents sane. Holidays can be boring to kids if they are left alone. Discuss vacation ideas and how to make good use of the free time for both children and adults.

Have you tried taking the ferry route ? DIY ferry and hotel booking via web ?
No. We have not taken ferry to Desaru. One of my friend took and we drove to the terminal to pick her. There's no taxi at the ferry terminal.

For hotel bookings, we normal book direct with the hotel, be it Lotus Desaru or Pulai Spring.
The food at Pulai Spring is more decent as compared to Lotus Desaru.

Seafood at Renggit is good too. The Jade Garden Seafood restaurant has expanded and now owns a building.
We normally drive to Renggit (half an hour drive) for lunch.
Dinner we will settle at the food stalls which are along the main road. These food stalls are at the turn, which you will make at, to go into Fireflies. Alternatively, you can also eat at the Fireflies place. But during the last visit at the Fireflies, the waiter insisted that we order the set meal, which is more expensive. We decided not to patronise them.
U can get good Beh Teh Sor, Shi Qi Ma, pong pia at one of the store (opposite Marry Brown, i think).
Thanks a lot for your tips !

From http://wikitravel.org/en/Desaru

Like all of Malaysia's east coast, Desaru is highly seasonal, with monsoon winds and rains lashing the coast between November and February. There is still plenty of sunshine even during the rainy season, but waves are high and it rains more. The "good" season is thus April to October, with June to August being the busiest months, when the waters are inviting and the sand fine.
