If you want to visit the ice sculptures, it starts only on Jan 15, every year

Hi cookieandmonster and momDana, are you both going to the new clubmed there? I remembered seeing their ad a few months ago and i think it was even more expensive than the club med in hokkaido!

Nope not going to clubmed. I am planning to go Harbin in China for the ice and snow sculptures. My families wanted to see the lights and experience sub-zero freezing temperatures ( hopefully get some snow fall.... )

Unfortunately haven't seen any tour agents advertising the packages yet. Think its too early. :( :(

Super cold -18C, but super nice. my wife complained that the cold went thru her shoes , compounded by the fact that snow melts. But not my Doc Martens :) Anyway we bought heat-packs from the supermarket in Harbin. No worries about that, as Harbin people are still humans whose core body temperature are 36C. We went there on our own, ie without tour and flew from Beijing. Can book hotel via ctrip and then when at the hotel, can ask them help arrange to rent a taxi/car with driver for a day at reasonable rates (but am sure high by local stds). There are three key places - snow & ice land (and near there Polar world - great artic creatures) for day time and the night time ice wonderland across the river. And in downtown, the original ice wonderland, that is much smaller. The exhibits were really beautiful, but I remembered the cold more fondly as we do not get it in Singapore.

Hi Carebear,

I wasn't aware of the new clubmed :D Where did you see the ad? Sounds fun 8)

I am thinking of going there to experience the coldness and see the culture there..heard that it is influenced by Russia as it is very near.
