Urgent advice on passport needed

hi all,

wonder whether anyone has good advice here please:

we're due to go to china, macau, HK, for 8 days, departing this Tue, 7 Dec.

dw tried to check in on-line just now, and only then realised that dd's passport is expiring on 1 jun 2011, effectively meaning it's just less than 6 mths before the passport expires.

will she run into prob at changi airport as well as when she tries to enter into china, macau, HK?

is there anything that needs/can be done to make sure we can travel smoothly?

tks...

Oh dear.....
It may not be worth taking the risk bringing your DD along.
It is totally at the discretion of the officer at the other side, as the rule in most countries is at least 6 months validity of the passport.

Was talking to a friend who said he had the similar case few years back.
Went to ICA to get a temporary passport.
However was questioned for 4 hours at the Hong Kong side.
The Singapore embassy there was not aware of the temporary passport thing. So very inconvenient.
Better to renew passport early.
Don't wait till last minute.

Go to ICA, at the info queue tell them your situation, they will expedite and you should get your NEW passport same day (if you go ASAP)

last year we hit this issue at the airport on our departure...

the airline group managed to secure seats for a later flight.
meanwhile my son (less than 6mth left on passport) and i rushed back, grabbed birth cert... went to ICA at 10am - got his passport at 4pm...

it was really a blessing...

Nearly hit this problem this year for my passport, but luckily ICA sent a reminder in October, ahead of the holidays! So renewed in time !

sorry to have seen this post a little late, hope everything went smoothly.

the only solution i know is to apply for a temporary passport.. but like another parent had said, there will be alot of trouble while entering the country. I was faced with similar problems while trying to enter thailand. But before that, we had actually gone to thailand embassy to get some documents and thailand side do allow us to enter with some interview

Is this a standard where to have 6 mths validity when entering any country?
