Hi,

Anyone visited Suzhou? Was thinking if Zhou zhuang and suzhou in general is worth a visit as compared to hangzhou????

I will be there on biz and hubby is tagging along this time round as it's school hols  . We intend to be there on 14th March (Sat) without the kids. It's his first visit to China. Was thinking of doing a 1 day trip to suzhou and then another day to explore Shanghai as though I travel there rather regularly, there are lots of places that I haven't explore on my own. Eg. I have only been to yuyuan, huaihai road and xujiahui area.

Any other good recommendation for places to go in Shanghai for sightseeing and shopping (though I find the goods overpriced... maybe I was in the wrong place) ? I intend to see the bund this time round and go to nanjing road.

I worked in Suzhou for one year. If you need my help, please let me know. How old are your kids? Most of kids do not enjoy the sight seeing in China - bored. In Shanghai, you can shop at the statium with a lot of bargaining.. 70% down. if you enjoy it. Science center is worth to visit.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

My kids are not going. My hubby is tagging along on my biz trip. It's his 1st visit to China. For me, I've only been to Shanghai but since it's always biz trip, I've only been to ltd places.

I managed to get some local tour from the concierge. Was contemplating of doing Suzhou and Zhou Zhuang 1 day tour OR just 1 day Zhou Zhuang tour. This is what they cover
Humble Administrator's Garden-LionForest Garden-Pass by Grand Canal-No.1 Silk Factory- Lunch-
Zhou Zhuang Water Village-Boating on waterways-Back
Is it worth the visit? Was hoping to see something cultural/ scenic or something diff from Spore but I only have the weekends.

Where is a good place to shop in Shanghai? I usually go to those stores at huaihai road and find it more expensive than Spore. Think I am probably at the wrong place.

For Zhou Zhuang tour, you need 1 day as this is far from suzhou. This is a water valley..houses near the river. For suzhou, those places are near to each others, you can go by yourself by taxi. except the silk factory.. if you want to buy silk. Please take note that the tour include meal - local meal if you like it, ha ha. From Shanghai to suzhou, you can take a speed train which take only 1-2 hrs. In shanghai, shop at stadium MRT stop.. bargain bargain ...

The stop near to the Science center and stadium. Another side of Shanghai. Too bad, I was retrenched last month from suzhou. if not, I can host you and hubby. Now, I am still jobless. Anyway, the shops are around the stadium. Once you are out from the train, you can see those shops. They sell clothes, bag, etc.. note: all are "branded".
