Hi anyone been to Legoland in San Diego, CA? Is one day enough to cover the whole place (assuming kiddo doesn't wish to take the scarier rides)?

We may skip the Sea Life Aquarium next door if not enough time. I guess it won't be better than our own S.E.A. Aquarium on Sentosa. But if I'm wrong, and it is a must-do, do shout out

Anywhere else in San Diego that's worth visiting while we're there? Apart from the zoo (which kiddo finds extremely boring, tried many countries' zoos all same effect).

We are actually driving over from LA to San Diego...so any interesting places of interest along the way, I'm open to try. Thanks!

One day should be good for LEGOLAND. we enjoyed our day immensely and reluctantly left when the park closed - didn't have time to do the sea life aquarium at all! Had dinner at the LEGOLAND hotel next door cos figured the highway would be crowded (yes it was....we stayed in San Diego near to Sea World). Dinner was nice and the hotel was awesome.

Went to Seaworld and did the Zoo. honestly, seaworld was a bit tired and after all the news about the orcas, I was in 2 minds about it. Perhaps you can explore the old town....we drove around there only, looks nice.

Thanks! I think it's a fantastic idea to have dinner at the Legoland Hotel. We didn't have the budget to stay at that hotel, had to choose somewhere further away. Felt sad that I couldn't let my child experience the luxury of a Lego-themed room, but a dinner there and playing in the Lego-themed lobby would be a wonderful compromise :boogie:

One day should be enough to cover Legoland. I didn't managed to go though its part of the theme park package that I bought. We chose to shop at the factory outlets instead  Besides the zoo, we went to SeaWorld and USS midway.

Re-Post under correct thread:

I am planning a family trip to Oakland, does anyone know and kind to advise what is the best way to reach Oakland. SQ does not have direct flight San Franciso, only LA. Called SQ hotline, they can't advise also and asked me to contact travel agent. They only mention can stopover at certain (can say which) countries then connect flight to Oakland. Can also advise the most ease of travel and transit as will be travelling in a group of 9-12 (from 20 mths to 70 yrs) . Thanks. Never been to USA and is clueless how to move about.

Fly into San Francisco. Public transport in the US is not very convenient and most people will rent cars and self-drive. With your young and old members, trains and buses are probably not the best way to travel. Are you going to stay in Oakland, or are you planning to move around? If you are going to just 1 place and staying there, you can book transport from the airport to wherever you are going (limo, minibus etc).

If you are intending to tour, unless you have someone who can drive a minibus (not sure how big these are and whether there are restrictions) or 2 people who can drive MPVs or 3 people who can drive regular cars, you may want to arrange a tour instead. For a customised tour, you can approach a travel agency to arrange for you, or book onto one of their standard tours. Why are you going in such a big group if there isn't a more experienced person to make the arrangements?

Thanks for reply. We are accompanying grandma to USA to visit aged relatives. Thought of doing some background check and work here before troubling them to arrange. Yes, will ask them best way to get around, at the same time, I will also approach travel agency to see if they provide certain service at a reasonable price.

If you have relatives there (the children or grandchildren of the aged relatives!), the simplest way is to ask them to come and fetch you if they have enough cars available, or arrange for one of them to rent something big enough to fetch all of you. They will be the best to know how to go about doing this; much easier than trying to do it from this side of the world. Travel agencies will add their markup to any service they book on your behalf, and they may not have access to all the various options.
