Big Buddha takes you through the 'real' Thailand. This is the best place to see. Patong Beach is also one of the best and fantastic place to see in Thailand.

I don't remember any thread discussion on Hatyai.

I like to know what other means of transport to take from SIN to Hatyai (apart from coach).

Can those who hv gone to Hatyai pls share.

Thanks.

Tiger Airways fly there ...

http://www.tigerair.com/sg/en/destination_map.php

Been there eons ago ... long before Tiger Airways was born. Those days it only cost $99 for a 5D4N trip by coach, of course, that included 2 nights in the coach via the Msian NS Highway.

A very laid back town .. nothing much to do there, not that many shopping malls then, plenty of street vendors though I remember they had a market, pretty similar to Chaptuchak in BKK, though of a much smaller scale. Hotels weren't that high class either, but things might have changed now.

Sorry, not much help.

Many thanks for sharing.

Is Tiger Airways the only airline to fly direct?

I remembered it used to be a sleazy town but I just goggled n saw the town has undergone improvements. There is a big shopping mall under the Thai brand - Central.

Hotels don't look good though.

I did a quick browse on Hat Yai airport website. It does look like Tiger Air is the only airline with direct flight from Singapore

TR is the only airline that flies direct from SIN to HDY.

It used to be a sleazy, cowboy town for our North Malaysia brethren who can't enjoy the vices due to some harsh state laws. The city has, however, gotten a bit better with newer malls, better hotels following the inflow of money. The vices are still there but a typical tourist would hardly notice it unless you search for it (the vices didn't stop anyone from visiting Phuket right?). There are a couple of interesting temples but it's difficult to imagine holidaying in Hat Yai beyond 3 days.
