2008 Term 2 School Holiday Ideas

School terms keep kids in school and parents sane. Holidays can be boring to kids if they are left alone. Discuss vacation ideas and how to make good use of the free time for both children and adults.

June holiday programmes?

Postby ChiefKiasu » Mon May 19, 2008 10:33 pm

The books are back on the shelves... the gameboys, xboxes, Wiis are being tortured to their limits. After the hardwork, the pushing, the scolding, the tears of failure and the joys of ace-ing papers, another midterm is over.

What are you planning for your kids this coming June holidays? Of course, there is always the urge to send them for more academically courses or extra tuition depending on how badly they fared during the midterms... but there are plenty of other equally enriching courses too that can broaden their horizons.

Besides the usual suspects of the Zoo, BirdPark, Science Centre, Sentosa, etc, I'm sure there are plenty of unique and fun places in Singapore. I'll start by introducing some. Please share what you know, or are aware of, with the rest of our community!

Outdoors:
- SAF Yatch Club Get-Kids-Afloat Holiday programme
- Qian Hu Fish Farm
- Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

Museums:
Museum of Shanghai Toys
Children's Season At the National Museum

Science:
- Discovery Vacation Camp

Maths:
- MathTeach Holiday Retreat

English:
- Phonics Read Holiday Reading Camp
- Tony Buzan's Power Learning Camp

Music:
- Crestar Holiday Programmes

Art & Craft:
- Isadora's Workshop holiday programmes

Goodness. According to this poll... "What do your kids do during June holidays"... nearly half of the respondents say they just stay at home! Sure or not?!

My daugher goes to Childcare ( Faith Montessori ) and there is no break. They have a holiday programme there where they organise cookery, art and craft and other activities. It's good because I don't like her to stay at home with the maid. So we don't send her for other enrichments.

That sounds pretty wholesome and fun! How old is your kid again?
