Travel: Malaysia - General

School terms keep kids in school and parents sane. Holidays can be boring to kids if they are left alone. Discuss vacation ideas and how to make good use of the free time for both children and adults.

Original Title: Holiday driving trips to Malaysia

If you guys are interested in driving in Malaysia, you can check out the places that I have been. I think I have done practically most of the water parks in our northern neighbour.

Look on the right hand list (at the bottom), "theme parks in malaysia". that should bring you to the post that you may be interested in.

That was a challenging drive, IMHO. I had driven up to Kuantan only twice and already felt busted in the butts. If I recalled correctly, that trip was 800 km there and back. I cant imagine driving 1800 km. :faint:

ok I have a few questions if you dun mind.

1) I understand that Picanto has a 35L fuel tank, you must have filled many tanks to travel 1800+ km?

2) What GPS are you using? I saw in one photo - Garmin. Hmm, which model?

3) Did you encounter any people trouble along the way e.g. TP ?

1) for the trip, it was only 5 full tanks to complete the trip. For my Pica, 1 full tank can travel 400km. 5x400km = 2000km. Enough to go Sepang circuit drive a few more rounds. :P
2) I am using an external bluetooth garmin unit. Garmin 10x. Software is from Garmin mxt (but hacked ;)). The phone is dopod 838pro running windows mobile 5. (very old already).
3) No, I didn't encounter any troublesome people on the way. In fact, most were nice folks and didn't hestitate to smile at me. People up north, never see a red plate car before. heheh.

For the long drive...do it in stages...this way, it wouldn't be that tiring. Take more kopi breaks along the way. And always...drive in the day only. Night driving is tiring.

Don't hestitate to ask any more questions if needed. Surely will pass on whatever experience I gained.

road trip to Kota Tinggi and Desaru

Post by krazy » Mon Apr 13, 2009 1:37 pm

I would like to share what we did over the long weekend Good Friday break.

We drove up to Kota Tinggi with some of our friends and had a wonderful time there.

It's easily accessible and not that far a drive. :)
