USA local tours

School terms keep kids in school and parents sane. Holidays can be boring to kids if they are left alone. Discuss vacation ideas and how to make good use of the free time for both children and adults.

That's what i was told too. Someone i know took more than 1 hr to get to his destination when it was supposed to be a 10mins drive. Another got lost all the time driving in Paris. In the end, she decided a better way was to go up the Eiffel Tower just to orientate herself and "study" how the roads link from one to another. She never got lost driving after that.

Btw, dont get what you mean whose fares they are using?
Expedia could be selling you a fare that was being offered for sale by the airlines in another country. Since the fares are from an overseas office, it's 'cross-borders' since the seller is overseas and charging you in a foreign currency.

Have done this before, no need GPS. By the way you use google maps. Just load the maps on wifi before leaving or at hotel.
So excited to find this thread very much alive... Ours is in Nov/ Dec. Airtickets, hotel and car rental all booked.

Iso of google map, I used WAZE during my last trip in NJ. it was really good. Even tell us if there are traffic situations, stationary vehicle or sighting of traffic police  But battery consumption is high, make sure you have battery charger or spare battery.

If you are going to premium outlet, the one at Gilroy SF is better...has more outlets and brands.

Eastern seaboard:

Anyone went up to the NYC Statue of Liberty after it reopened last year? How long was the wait to get into the pedestal museum to the top? 2 hours?

My last visit was 1-2 hrs : summer.

Anyone's young child managed climb to the Crown? Was it "siong"? Can I park my stroller downstairs?

Advice appreciated.

Thank you.

Reposting...

Anyone did the Climb to share experience w me? Is it really worth my sweat?

Looks quite tiring from the vids I watched on YouTube...esp the final leg via the narrow and claustrophobic spiral staircase...

I did the climb. IMHO, I think it is overrated and rather claustrophobic as you go closer to the top. After climbing all the way up, you get only to peer through a set of small windows and you need to go as there is a long queue fter you....I would think the view at the base is nicer.

I managed to climb it with my kids. Very siong especially when one of them is not the active type, kept complaining. For stroller wise you can park it downstairs at your own risk. I bought a very cheap and light stroller when I brought my kids to the US and threw it away after that. Because many of the places I went, I had to park the stroller somewhere else - out of my sight.
