besides warms clothes, you will definitely need lots of those heat packs! especially for people like us who are not used to the cl.d Daiso used to sell lots of them for very cheap, but not sure if they still do.

Last yr mid dec, after checked out from tomamu , we drove to furano cheese factory & nigle terrace...abt 1hr drive..it was very quiet at furano..doesnt look like got good public transport around..in fact , with driving n google map on hand we found it difficult to find place for lunch..super quiet n heavy snow. So if you wanna go there, make sure u hv the public transport timing all check out. The area at furano cheese factory n nigle terrace had nice thick snow n tall trees..n hardly any ppl, good place for nice pics..also good change of scenary after leaving the forever crowded tomamu.

The reason I wanna to visit Furano is the nigle terrace and quiet place, but worry about the transportation :( I think going there is not a problem to go Furano by JR but not sure how to walk around there ...

U can try taxi..i checked furano cheese factory is 5min fr train station..should be less than 1000y..most likely the basic fare can cover..but when i was there..didnt notice many ppl around town though..so not sure if the taxi is as common as otaru/sapporo.

Nothing much inside the cheese factory though n we didnt even step into any shop at nigle terrace.
Alternatively can also consider overnight at asahikawa...public transport to the zoo seemed good..n hotel r cheap.

vectorbiz wrote:Hi Thanks ... more or less I am rest assure now, $980+ for 2 nights stay include breakfast and some free facilities is worth and within my budget ,just a little inconvenience if I stay with these 2 nights whereby I hv to go in and out Sapporo 2 times (not driving and very scare of carrying heavy luggages)
If my flight back to Spore at 10am, do your suggest I should stay nearby Airport or Sapporo centre ?
I would suggest staying at the airport cos you have to check in around 8ish
Try the onsen hotel at the airport, its better than Air Terminal Hotel
Air Terminal Hotel is quite old and not really well kept compare to onsen hotel and cost more
We stayed there in January 2018

Have you considered renting a car from Day 6 onwards? Since there is 5 of you i think should be more economical to rent a car then to take JR
Hi
May I know if we can reserve the room in the onsen hotel ? I went thru the website but there doesnt seem to be a link for reservation and there are only 11 rooms.

East Hokkaido is indeed a good choice for the great outdoors. For wildlife and nature, the Shiretoko National Park should be top of the list. For scenery consider Akan National Park and Kushiro Shitsugen Wetlands National Park.

Travel by public transport may not be as convenient as self-drive but it is wise not to risk it without winter driving experience. Go through the following Express Bus routes, plan accordingly and I’m sure you can still enjoy a wonderful East Hokkaido trip.

Hokkaido is a very, very beautiful place and has a lot to offer in terms of Japanese history and culture.
