How to apply visa to Melbourne, Australia

School terms keep kids in school and parents sane. Holidays can be boring to kids if they are left alone. Discuss vacation ideas and how to make good use of the free time for both children and adults.

How to apply visa to Melbourne, Australia

Postby Han Seo » Sat Dec 10, 2016 1:39 am

Sorry to ask a silly question but may I confirm if the correct way to apply for a visa to Melbourne, Australia is through the Australian High Commission website? Is this the only way? There are different categories of visa; some categories seem quite close. Any penalty if we choose the wrong type?

How do we show the immigration officer/airline if we apply for the visa online?\

Thanks in advance!

You need to apply online. Your intention to travel to Melbourne must be clear.

Airline not interested if you have visa or not, because if you dont, you'll have to come back if immigration denies you entry. If you hold Singapore passport, visa is surely granted unless you have a criminal record. If there is a problem with your passport, or the embassy need more details, they will invite you to the embassy to give more details.

They are very fast and efficient at the Aussie embassy.

All the best.

If you are a Singapore citizen and going to Australia for holiday, you can apply ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) online. The cost is A$20. Once they approved your application, their approval will be in their database but it is better if you print their approval, just in case.

ETA is AUD20 and done online.

Most travel agents would be able to do it cheaper than that but you would have to visit in person with your passport. After approval, most will attached a print out to your passport as proof of work done.

You can apply for a range of visas, including tourist visas and working holiday visas, at your nearest Australian Consulate. You can also apply for certain types of visas online.
