Hi,

Never been to Taiwan and trying to make some flight redemption there with my hubby in Nov. So it will be F&E.

If we have 4 days 3 nites in Taipei, what are the things that we should do?

Also, any good accomodation recommendation in terms of std and location? Preferably at least 4 star.

Is getting around easy? Eg. between airport to hotel, etc....

Pls advise. THanks.

Grand Hyatt 5* is a good place to stay - connected to Taipei 101. Not cheap though.

Rebar Holiday Inn - good location, business hotel.

Howard Plaza - near Rebar

Brother Hotel - '5*' business hotel

There are also a few 3* hotels at Ximenting you may consider.

Places to visit include:
- shiling night market, Rao he night market
- ximenting
- yang ming shan
- taipei 101 (upmarket stuff)
- xiao ren guo
- yeliu
- keelung

hi mmm,

My friend stayed in ?? beauty hotel in Taipei, cheap and good. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review ... aipei.html

I would highly recommend "Gu Gong" - it holds treasures from the palaces in China - CKS had it all moved to Taiwan when he fled the mainland. The Dongpo rou jade, and the cabbage are amazing; the rest of the treasures also very awesome. Cost is surprisingly low. There's a restaurant there that serves cuisine reminiscient of the dp rou and cabbage.

I would also add Chiu Fen for some nostalgia (the beef noodles and fishballs are very nice).

Getting around Taipei is easy. There is MRT and taxi. You can just walk outside the airport and get a taxi. From airport to somewhere near Taipei 101 is about NT$1,300 ( S$1 = NT$22). From hotel to airport is a lot cheaper, about NT$900.

Gu Gong - yes yes...I forgot about this place.

Chiu Fen - is it near/at Taipei? my memory is fading..Don't forget to try their lu rou fan

Weather in Nov is perfect - cool, like walking in air-conditioned environment. When it rains, Chiu Fen & Yie Liu can get very cold, strong wind.

Hi,

You can go to Wu Lai if you're in Taipei.

Just take one of their buses.

You can go for their 泡澡 when you're there. Very cheap! One room to yourself and DH, with unlimited timing. Then just walk walk around there to enjoy the fresh air and scenic view.

九份 is very nice too. Think just take the MRT then take a bus in. Loads of cafeterias and interesting souvenir shops there.

Thanks to all for replying. It seems tough for us to get free redemption tkts to Taiwan so we decided to do China this time round as I happened to be there for biz and already confirmed the redemption tkts for hubby.

But thanks for your invaluable advice. Will definitely refer to this when we plan our Taiwan trip probably next year.

When I brought my kids to Taiwan. They were not interested in the sight-seeing and shopping in the city. However, they liven up when they saw the padi fields and farm animals in the countryside. :whut: I think it's cos they love to see something different. Have a nice trip.
