Luggage damage at the start of a trip is a nightmare.
It was indeed. We had to make quick decision to get new one as it's the big luggage & it's hard to move ard. The trip became a shopping trip at the start, before we cld start focus on our original sightseeing plans. Kinda stressful.

FinAir lost one of the wheels? Could you claim from FinAir in this case? or your travel insurance?

Impossible to recommend lah.
Some people like fabric, others prefer ABS. The more atas one may choose aluminum instead. And all of them may weigh roughly the same.

Best to visit a departmental store or your favorite brand boutique to check it out.

FinAir quite cheapskate. Actually ask for luggage so they can send for replacement of wheels, but it’ll take at least a week coz they send it to Germany (think office is there) & then to a neighboring country (not sure Turkey or Prague) for repairs.

We just buy a brand new one. How to wait for one week as we’re on the go? We thot we’ll put thro travel ins claim but we lost the receipt along the way. Think DH said lost but I vaguely rmbr he put in the stack for tax claim at the airport. Nvm.

I think some insurance companies will still reimburse you for damaged luggage even without any receipt. Just that the amount may be less than what you bought it for.

We bought our luggage two months ago online at https://www.theplanettraveller.com/prod ... 5496ebf095. I think they are offering 10% off from your first purchase.
