There are some free websites (e.g. https://www.goodtyping.com/) which teaches typing. Also possible to learn through games (http://www.freetypinggame.net/).

Young students are usually very fast to pick up such things (computer, phone, etc), possible to learn on their own.

I haven't looked at the recent website offerings, but when my kids were learning, I found that the "game" ones were too much fun and didn't develop real skills. In the end, we bought a CD-ROM (yes, it was that long ago!) of a course under the Mavis Beacon name. It was less fun but more structured, and they did learn to type pretty well, enough to laugh at my self-taught typing!
