More toxic China-made dairy pdt

Postby matrix0405 » Mon Sep 22, 2008 10:00 am

SINGAPORE - Singapore has found traces of a toxic chemical in a third Chinese-made dairy product as a scandal over tainted milk spreads across Asia, authorities said Sunday.

Singapore's Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, known as AVA, said samples of White Rabbit-brand Creamy Candy imported from China were contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical that can cause kidney stones and lead to kidney failure.

Is there a comprehensive list of affected products ? I'm hearing things like M&M's , Wall's etc being affected, but I still see these items being sold in supermarts, including those major chains.

Action plan (in decreasing level of safety)
1. Avoid all products derived from milk.

2. Read the package's fine print for country of manufacture. If it is from China, don't buy. Unfortunately, even if it is not from China, it may be made with milk from China.

3. Spend more. Buy the more expensive product. This is according to the Straits Times. Cheaper products are likely to have been derived from cheaper milk from China.

Very true. Just bought 2 bars of Mars bars. Printed in fine print "made in Australia with local and imported ingredients."

 The sick and greedy people who did this don't deserve any humane treatment. They should be fed on a supplement that includes the same poison they added to kids' milk.

I also hope this incident will make the Chinese finally wake up to extent of unscrupulous cheating that seem to permeate so many quarters of the booming Chinese industry - and do something about it. It's one thing to pirate, make and export fake goods. It's another to poison the very own food that their own children would drink.

Ever considered this : the Chinese govt already knew of this way before it became an issue of this proportion, but embarked on a cover up because of the upcoming Olympics.

You know... I don't doubt that is what happened. Notice how the news were only released almost immediately after the Paralympics. I can't imagine how "face" is rated so much more important than their own children. Guess this is much worse than letting Mas Selamat out of the bag.
