any advice on pneumococcal vaccine??

ds is 4 yrs and wondering if need to give him this jab

Many countries around the world recommend this and reimburse the vaccine. I gave it to my daughter when she turned one. She required 4 jabs, but for older kids, 3 jabs should suffice. Check with your GP. Cheers

I brought my kid for the jab at almost 2yo. only 1 jab needed.

my kid was hospitalised 4 days last year due to pneumococal disease. it was a very traumatic experience for her. i gave her the jab one month after hospital discharge. I regretted not doing it earlier.

Hi aisukurimu1, please, please go ahead with the pneumococcal vaccine.
Your 4 year old ds will need only one dose and this would prevent him from unnecessary suffering should he encounter with the pneumococcal virus!
My 2 kids had it already.
Apart from localized slight pain and swelling over the injection site, they were well.

don't knoe whether ds will resist on taking the jab. last mth, ds and dh went for flu jab becoz we are going for china for holiday. ds veri gd, he take the jab w/o any compain but the nurse told us that ds got to take the jab one mth later when we return to spore coz he is less than 5 yrs old. but ds veri resist on taking the jab when we are at the clinic. he simply don't let the nurse to jab on him in the end, the nurse told us not to force him or else, in ds later part of life when he need to take any jab, he will resist. so we went home w/o having him taken the jab

no, i a sporean. the user name i use is a japanese words. i learnt quite a fews years of japanese language before but sad to say, i return alot to the teachers oredi!!

all my girls had them - it is compulsory in the country that we'd spent some time and the medical covers that after the visit from the Primary care lady. Their baby book has that updated too.

Do note that the vaccine is only for "pneumococcal C".

Aisukurimu1, when my kids were younger, i told them that the vaccine is putting army into their bodies so that they can have strength to fight the enemy when encountered. Maybe you can tell your ds about this analogy. You may request the doctor to apply emla (a numbing cream) before the injection, though this is chargeable.
