Got this off the internet:

10 Foolproof Tips for Better Sleep

1. Don't worry about not getting enough sleep.

2. Don't force yourself to sleep.

3. Go to bed only when you are feeling really tired and sleepy.

4. Don't look at the alarm clock at night.

5. A warm shower/bath before going to bed can ease the transition into a deeper sleep.

6. Avoid oversleep to make up for a poor night's sleep.

7. Avoid alcohol or pills as a sleeping aid.

8. Associate your bed and bedroom with sleep only.

9. Naps. If you suffer from insomnia, try not taking a nap.

10. Have a light snack or some warm milk.

There is a 11th tip that may be useful for you but can't be posted here as this is an open thread.
Good luck, hope you sleep like a baby soon.

Did you take any new medication or vitamins lately? Sometimes it causes insomnia in certain individuals...

From my experience, when i can't fall asleep, i go to the living room, switch on the tv and turn the volume down, after that i sleep not facing the tv, i find that that helps (for me)...

Or you very stressful lately? I find that when I am stressed, I can't get to sleep easily too.

The other thing to note is, in TCM view, after a few sleepless night, our liver gets heaty and will cause us not able to sleep more. You can try to take some cooling drink in the day, to 'cool down' the liver. A simple drink is Jin Yin hua with Ju hua. Or can get some ready made tablets - known as 'Long(2) Dan(3) Xie(4) Gan(1)'

Go exercise, go for long walks, swim & use up your energy & you'll be so tired at night that you'll sleep well. Not being able to fall asleep, waking up a few times at night sound familiar & it's no fun. It could hormones change & in that case, nothing much can be done but it's good that you are seeking out remedy. Hope you'll get over this phrase soon. We all experience this now & then, part of life ...........
