Yes. The packaging must specify rolled oats in order for it to be effective. Buy from NTUC. I just buy whichever brand that is on offer. Below $10 for 2 packets of 500g each.
There are 2 kinds. Quick cook and instant. My mum takes quick cook. I take instant.
My mum cooks it with sliced fish or pork as her breakfast. She used to eat it every morning when her readings was in the high 200s despite medication. Went up to 3xx even. She did a quick fix then by drinking pure bitter gourd juice for a week or so where it went down and stabilised at the high 200s range. But bitter gourd juice was too cooling so got to stop. Her readings is now below 200 so she does not take it daily anymore. She just takes it regularly for maintenance.
As mine is instant, I only add milk to it. My reading was nearly 250. I took 2 packets of 500g of rolled oats for 2 weeks with a 1 week interval in between, before doing a re-test. Dropped to 22x. This is the only change I made. Wanted a controlled environment so that I know what works or not works.
Know someone who averages it as breakfast about 4 times a week since mid 2012. Reading is low 100 from around 200.
Recommended to quite a few friends. They were recommended medication but not needed anymore after re-test.
I take 7 tablespoons a day, each packet lasts about a week. Their drop is slower because they eat 2-3 tablespoons a day.
