May I know if I need to get supreme health first then total health? Or can get just total health without supreme health? My agent went MIA. Thinking of changing to another one.... :-(

Is it really worth to go for the private health insurance or the medishield life is sufficient. Sometimes I think it is not worth paying for the premium for the private insurance without using it....

Please advise.

Thanks.
Medical insurance is one of those things which you should be happy if you never get to use it! First, find out what Medishield Life covers and whether you are satisfied with that. Mainly, if you want to stay in B1/A class wards, you should buy additional insurance. Only you can make that decision.

If your agent has gone MIA, switch to another one! Get one who is willing to explain the differences to you and is willing to understand your preferences, not just get you to buy policies.

Supremehealth is the main plan, Total health is the one that covers co-insurance and deductibles.
So sorry that your agent went MIA. Mine is from an independent advisory firm so my agent compared the various plans that and recommended one that is suitable for me. You can contact her at 97108956. Her name is Grace

MediShield is basic. If you want to stay in a better ward, see a doctor in a private hospital , speed up the queue in a government hospital, cover the deductibles part, you will need to buy a rider. This rider can only be paid in cash. Can cost more than $400 a year. This translates into about $1 a day. However, some who can stay in a better ward choose not to do so because the follow up treatment will be more expensive. Some with certain medical conditions cannot purchase the riders. I understand these from an agent. Feel free to correct me if not correct.

Has anyone changed his/her Integrated Shield Plan insurer from Insurer A to Insurer B?

We have been with NTUC Income on the Enhanced Preferred plan for many years now.

I am looking at Prudential PruShield with better product features.

Appreciate your sharing.

I was told not to go for prudential as once you claimed from it, the premium will be increased. I am not sure how true. You may want to check it out.

Prudential is realllly expensive & claim experience not ideal. :moneyflies:

We've been with AIA since we started work as AIA holds AAA ratings for a very long time & well known for super good claim experience. They airm to ensure that no individual or families left to suffer financial needs when need to claim esp str-fwd ones with proper death certifications. They allow some agents to rush chqs to bereaved families even before paperwork if road accident, long-illness, etc. There will be some circumstances of delay if cases are doubtful obviously.

However, in the last 10 years, we've purchased new policies for PIL & kids with NTUC Income. Our claim experience has been just as good & premiums much cheaper than AIAs.

Not sure this is result of govt linked system to insurance companies for all MediShield, H&S and other policies that helped speed things up a lot. I'm sure NTUCI had well trained customer service staff & implement good claim process, but I'll certainly recommend them even for Travel Insurance. If memory don't fail me, believe their H&S covers ward, surgicals, consultations, etc in full accordance to your selected plans up to co-pymt, deductibles & yearly limits unless u bought riders. Apologies I can't rmbr details.

Moving fwd, not very encouraging as govt moving towards changes to policies with riders. Was abt to upgrade & pay for riders to cover all future needs for hospitalization but recent announcements stop me on my tracks. Guess there are individuals who abuse it for all kinds of ops & procedures and my finger is not pointed to just individuals but this specialists in private practice. The acts of these few, causes other individuals who genuinely needs such full covers (e.g. retirees) to hv their policy wiped of its originally intended purpose of insuring against high costs. I hope they'll implement a transition plan to let existing policies with riders to continue as previously contracted when they implement for new policies. It wld the be fair to those who had paid high premiums in the past for years, to hv these taken away. Insurance companies hv accuries worked out the risks & wld hv built in the extra costs for their profits, no?

Note : 1. I'm not an agent nor staffvof AIA or NTUC
2. I've yet to get my rider. Just empathising those caught in situation with recent govt announcements

I do welcome any suggestions to help me consider overcoming pymt for deductibles (better if co-pymt can be overcome). Most riders are not cheap.

I m with aia too. Claiming process is fast. Worst experience is with AXA. Hard to claim n staff hv no accountability.
