Hi,

I have been having bouts of diarrhea and also constipation and I read on the internet it could be IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). I lead a hectic lifestyle and do not eat at regular meal times and hence this could lead to this.

Does anyone know what to do for such a syndrome? (besides eating at regular hours)

sadly, there' s no cure for IBS
i am also one of the sufferers

have been seeing my doc for the past 2-3 yrs,
every visits, he changes the medication for me,
they only helps to control some symptoms.

u're right, stress will trigger IBS.....(but for me, even without stress, the IBS is still there)

u have to keep a diary of what yr diet is
and eliminate those food that cause diarrhea or constipation
avoid dairy products
avoid oily food
as for me, i can't take spicy and hot stuff, will immediate induce diarrhea.

and suggest u see a specialist, medication does help.

hope the above helps :D

If it's Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) that u are having, then understand from a friend who has IBS that other than dairy products, she also avoids / cuts down on her intake of vegetables like cabbage, beans etc. U would also need to monitor your diet to see what other types of food brings on the symptoms. Taking probiotics also helps, u may wish to try this brand http://www.harvestmoonhealthfoods.com/drohesfopr60.html, which helped a lot in my friend's case, and she does not have to take any medication since going on these daily doses of probiotics.

i did ask my doc abt probiotics too.
he said that i can try, but some patients find it not helpful too.
and for my case, it doesn't help after taking for quite sometime.
but i still take it on regular basis, as it supposed to be friendly to our intestines.[

Yes probiotics is suppose to be good for all of us! Apparently the Dr Ohira brand has "mega" doses of acidophilus hence helped my friend for her IBS.

My husband used to suffer from IBS too, went to do a thorough scope, etc to make sure his intestines are alright.

But now he is alright & he swears by taking Yakults daily because of the probiotics, maybe you can try ;)

Yes, I can't take hot stuff like laksa, I will have to go to the toilet immediately. I have not seen a doctor yet. Just worried. I have to stay away from such from now I guess.

So Yakult can actually help?

Anyway, thank you everyone for your help and suggestions. :celebrate:

Are you willing to try a yoga procedure? It is called 'Shanka Prakshalana'.
It is for cleaning the intestines thoroughly. It is quite simple.
The first thing in the morning you need to drink 2 glasses of warm water and perform a few yoga stretches and then head to the loo.
It is considered to be extremely helpful for problems of the intestine like IBS, constipation etc.
I do not suffer from IBS, but still I do it once in a while as a cleansing activity.
