Is there a topic on this?

If not, I would like to start a topic about TCM and our children. Recently, I have introduced TCM and Tuina to my kid.

Found on a website on TCM Tuina which says
Tuina (Tui Na) dates back to the Shang Dynasty of China, 1700 B.C.E. Oracle bones show that tuina (tui na) massage was used to treat children's diseases and digestive complaints in adults. By 600 C.E. Tuina (tui na) was included in the Imperial Medical College as a separate department. Tuina (tui na) flourished throughout China until the Qing Dynasty where it was suppressed along with other Chinese cultural arts. Following the Communist revolution, Tuina (tui na) was restored along with other traditional medical arts and was included in the creation of the current system of Traditional Medicine Colleges.
I dunno if this is going to work for my kid as this is just the starting. But am prepared to share the result so that some likeminded parents can appreciate and benefit from my sharing.

I have just brought my kid to TCM tuina. Too soon to share with you all on the result. But here is something on the clinic that I go to (the physician appeared on razorTV). My hubby's colleague recommended one. Cuz he has two kids who have very bad health and he saw improvements after tuina for a period.

The address:
HERBAL-BASIC TCM CLINIC at Havelock Road
Tel: 6376 2345

about paediatric tuina...

TCM Paediatric Massage Therapy (xiao er tui na) is age-old tradition and clinically proven treatment, by applying Massage Strokes on the different acupoints on children to promote general health, strengthen their immune system and stimulate their brain development.

The therapy has good effect of promoting the vitality of the body's immunity system, improving the functions of the body organs, increasing disease-resistance ability, all of which acts synergistically to effectively prevent and treat ailments. It provides good health care for children when they are well, and when they fall ill, the therapy helps to alleviate or cure the illness.

The therapy is safe, non-invasive and is suitable for children from infant stage till seven years old.

So far we visit twice. First visit included a tuina and medication. cost $38. Second visit was only tuina, cost $28.

not really long queue cuz all go by appointment. I usually go much earlier so that in case the sessions before my appt end earlier, the doc can see my daughter earlier than the appt time. But can see that all the appts are back-to-back. We have patients stepping out when we arrived and while we were leaving, there were also other patients coming in.

anybody go to Eu Yan Sang?

They have quite a few child-friendly clinics ( http://www.ihealth.com.sg/childfriendly.php) located in:
  • Camden (Premier Clinic)
    Bukit Panjang (New)
    Sembawang
    Tiong Bahru

Their services and products can be on the high side. But recently, I heard from staff in other TCM business saying that they are pricey but their herbs and medications are of top quality.

I almost brought my DD to Tiong Bahru one cuz EYS has always been the brand I trust, but my hubby got his friend to recommend to us the other TCM.

Hmm, i have been bringing my son (4+) to tuina plus every night, I do the same for him. This was recommended by the ped, rather than going on puffer as he is developing a chronic cough.

About 6 weeks already and I am not sure if he is better. On the whole, he is better i.e. looks more rosy and healthy. However, he got sick 2 times, both of which, the cough was quite bad. Not sure if its due to the flu bug or maybe the toxins being flushed out of his system.

I think if you bring the kid to tuina, observe how they do it and try do it daily before they sleep. I think the frequency is more important.

EYS herbs are bought from local wholesaler just like any chinese medical halls in Singapore. So the quality is just the same like any other chinese medical halls. The extra that pp are paying is the Name - Eu Yang San only.
Their medications are also manufactured by local or other oversea manufacturer, which these manufacturers also do made other medications and sell in chinese medical halls. I know from one of my supplier that sell plaster for pain. The same plaster that I sell in my shop costs double if you buy from EYS, just because, they use EYS box.
It is just that most people who rather buy 'branded' then normal shop.
