Sleep Training Tips for 2.5yrs old

Hihi kiasu parents,

Just want to ask fellow parents out there for any tips/advice to start sleep training for my daughter who is 2.5yrs old.

I know there are many parents out there who are advocates for Attachment Parenting (ie. Soothing the child on demand, co-sleeping) and I respect tt. In fact, hubby and i have been taking turns sleeping with my girl since birth.

However, now that she is older , we would like to train her to sleep on her own. I have another son who is 7 months old and we tried sleep training it was great. The only thing is... my girl has this peculiar habit of holding my hand or hubby hand and sort of like massage it or pinching it (lightly) to fall asleep.. it is sort of like an assurance for her.. (just like other kids who hug their blanket to sleep). So, when THE HAND is not around ... she cannot get to sleep and will scream and shout for attention.

How to use sleep training with this peculiar habit?

You can go to Popular Book Shop to buy this book:

Solve your Child's Sleep Problems by Dr Richard Ferber

I saw it on 50% discount at Thomson Plaza branch just now. Only $5.

I have a copy and it is quite useful.
