water resistant sunblock

Postby happyandhealthy » Thu Feb 09, 2012 12:27 am

hi mommies Is there any good waterproof/water resistant sunblock you can recommend for swimming ? I've bought banana boat for kids sunscreen spf50. It's said to be very water resistant but I'm not sure if it's really effective. Texture wise...it's good as it's not oily or sticky. but after a swim for an hour, my boy got darker and you can see the difference clearly on the uncovered parts of the body versus the covered parts. My concern is that is he well protected from the sun.
I've also bought Avene for kids too but it's very sticky.

anyone can help advise ? thanks

1 hour is fine. If they are staying in the sun for more than an hour, you may apply on them every 2 hours. Remember to apply on for at least 20min before going under the sun, else it would not be as effective.

Shu umera water resistant sunblock is light, stays, and works very well. It works so well that you must apply it very carefully or you'll see the places that were missed if you stay in the sun for a long time.

I think they have a version for children and sensitive skin, but I've used the normal one on my kids without problem. It is a physical barrier, not just a chemical barrier, so I feel better about it. You can take a look. If u do try it, remember to spread it evenly. It's expensive, but I find myself still going back to it after trying various brands.
